Q.  Is Designing Women Boutique a Consignment shop?

A.  A lot of shoppers have trouble believing it because the shop looks like a high fashion boutique.  But we are indeed a consignment store.  We simply specialize in the finest designer fashions and accessories in excellent condition. We also buy new apparel and accessories from New York and other major markets.  Visit the shop to see how lovely consignment shopping can be.

Q.  If Designing Women Boutique is a charity, where does the money go?

A.  We make grants to many different arts, endowments and human services organizations and have contributed approximately $800,000 in grants and merchandise to 50 plus beneficiaries from our 2002 opening through 2007.  To view the complete list of recipients, click here.

Q.  What can I consign?

A.  We accept consignments of designer apparel and accessories and quality home furnishings accents, accessories and antiques.  Click here to learn more.

Q.  Do I need an appointment to consign?

A.  Yes.  We make consignment appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please phone the shop at 941-366-5293 to schedule.

Q.  How do I consign home furnishings items?

A.  The first step is to email pictures to designingwomenboutique@comcast.net. Or you can mail or hand deliver prints to the shop at 1226 N. Tamiami Trail (at 13th St.), Sarasota, FL 34236.  If we can consign your item(s), we will schedule an appointment.

Q.  Is there a limit on the number of items I can consign?

A.  Yes, the limit is ten items.  Since we often do not accept everything submitted, you may want to bring in a few more than that.  There are situations in which we can accept more than ten items in an appointment (estates, relocations and the like.)  Ask to speak with Store Manager Pam Day when you phone for your consignment appointment.

Q.  If I consign an item and it does not sell, can I pick it up?

A.  Yes, you can select that option when you have your consignment appointment.  Since we are a charity, we encourage consignors to let their goods become a donation if they do not sell by the end of the (60 day) consignment period.  But we recognize that some folks prefer to retrieve them, and we are happy for you to do so.  If you have more than five items to pick up, you need an appointment.  If you want us to find your merchandise for you, there is a charge of $1 per item.  Click here to see details

Q.  Can I take a tax deduction for my donations?

A.  Absolutely; Designing Women Boutique is a 501-c-3 charitable organization.  When you bring your donation in, you will receive an acknowledgment form.  You may request an itemized inventory be sent to you once your donation has been put in stock.

Q.  How do I go about becoming a volunteer?

A.  Phone the shop and speak to Store Manager Pam Day (941-366-5293).  Or email her at designingwomenboutique@comcast.net.
